I done here Twice a month on average . The reason this is 4 not 5 stars is some items on the menu . I tried almost all the items on the menu ! My favorites 3 items that's going to really get you hooked are : - their signature chicken soup is simple and delicious. - Ceviche is great , either fish or octopus. - the Almejas ( clams) is amazing and aromatic with the addition of Rosemary . Service is top notch ,the atmosphere is also welcoming and comfortable . I'm a loyal customer to this establishment.

Delicious!...guacamole, chicken soup, quesadilla chicken and chicken mole enchiladas...all delish. Definitely will return.

Very good all around! Guacamole is very fresh, $7 ritas & house wine. Spinach salad & shrimp/poblano pepper tacos were divine. Better than uncle julios, roccos & more versatile than Las fajitas. Servers were incredibly attentive. Also, they had a gentleman doing card tricks while we waited on the food. It was a nice touch.

The food was good and we liked the small atmosphere. Being sick and tired of Americanized Mexican food, this place was a step in the right direction. The obvious freshness in ingredients helped out as tried a lot of new dishes. There was also ceviche that hails from Peru but they did it well and enhanced the experience. There was also a cute girl that made guacamole fresh by your table and this was a definite success both visually and for the palate. Good marketing ploy. Good luck.

It took us 10 minutes and 3 tries to get plates for the tasteless salsa and salt less "chips." Really? 10 minutes for 2 plates? Waitress said the main course octopus was fresh, not a chance. My wife's fish tacos fell apart. Gross. Bad lighting, mediocre food, harried server. Last time here. Mega over rated by you yelpers.

My family and I loved it here. I am a vegetarian and my mom is gluten free, but we had plenty of options. Our water Sergio was awesome and the price was great. I would definitely come back.

I've always loved Casa Maya, and have regularly frequented the restaurant for several years, now. However, tonight will probably be my last visit. As a vegan, I can usually count on a bean burrito as a standard item at Mexican restaurants. This evening, when I requested no cheese, but asked if I could substitute one of their sauces, instead, I was told they couldn't do that. I questioned the waitress, explaining that I have done this in the past. Her response was snippy, and she told me there would be an extra charge. Sure enough, I paid $2.00 extra for no cheese, but a verde sauce instead. And the margaritas?? Unless you order a specialty margarita, they are very watered down. Adios Casa Maya. My new favorite Mexican restaurant is Dos Amigos in Pompano Beach.

Came here for a group lunch. They have a decent sized dining area. The service was all friendly, but a bit slower than other office lunches we have previously had. The food prices are very reasonable and everyone (10+ people) had positive remarks about their food. My one complaint is the subpar salsa; a couple of people made comments about this and I agree that it's not spicy/ flavorful enough. Apart from this, I would definitely recommend as a casual lunch spot.

Came here for lunch with the family after reading the Yelp reviews. The atmosphere was nice the service decent but all four of us had ordered from the lunch menu found our meals rather insipid not what I was expecting from a Mexican joint. We ordered the sliders for grandpa, the wifey had a beef fajita burrito and junior and I had the lunch chicken burrito with chicken veggie soup which was luke warm. The tastiest part of the meal were the tortilla chips and salsa dip! We were not impressed.... Sorry fellow Yelpers our meals were just OK. We will NOT BE BACK!

I have been coming here for years. It is by far the best Mexican in the area. I love their pippian sauce. It's outstanding. They have also recently added guacamole prepared tables side. Everything is made fresh and is outstanding. It's family owned and run and the owners are always here. It's a hidden gem and an A+.

So I didn't have the best experience a few years ago, but based on all the positive reviews I have been wanting to come back and give Casa Maya another chance, why oh why did I think things could go better? This place is a joke! My review has gone from 3 stars to 1 star - 7pm I arrive with my girl friend, we are told its a 20 minute wait we put our name in and we are told they will find us when our table is ready - Still beer & wine only which is fine. We order Coronas at the bar, which is tiny and the few seats available were taken, young tall blond guy who is very pleasant serves us the beers - Friend and I go outside to wait for our table since bar is full - Now there are 6 tables outside (3 round tables and 3 square high tops), 2 of the round tables are empty and while we are waiting we see people who arrived after us taking a seat at these tables, we wonder if this whole time we could have been sat there but no one offered us the option - About 25 minutes in, the hostess showed us to our table inside, I ask about the outside seating and I am informed that they only serve dinner at the 3 square high tops not on the round ones, well it would have been nice to know that we could have sat at the other tables while waiting and having beers, oh well no biggie - Chips and salsa guy promptly delivers delicious warm thin chips to our table along with a small serving of fresh salsa which was outstanding but he kind a just threw it at our table and kept running - As we are waiting for our server we start noticing the painful running around and back and forth pacing by all of the staff, nonstop going back and forth from the kitchen past us and to the back area. In particular we notice how all of the staff looks stressed and not happy - The bartender who previously served us at the bar is also part of the back and forth running, serving drinks to the tables, he stopped at our table and was very pleasant and told us to let him know if we needed anything, but before we could ask for an appetizer he was already gone - We kept on waiting for our server....eventually about 15 mins after we were sat a lady who looked stressed and miserable stops at our table and asks if "We've made up our mind yet?". No Hello, no welcome, no my name is xxx and I will be taking care of you tonight, No let me suggest a few things to start with. Is she our server? We are not sure.... - My friend had a question on how the enchiladas were served and the lady sounded pissed that she had to answer a question. Well, several items in the menu don't clearly state what they are served with so I think it was a fair question, we ordered the Guac and our entrees - We had our Coronas we had previously ordered before we sat, but no one offers us waters or anything else to drink - A different lady drops off the guac and before we had a chance to ask for more chips to the obviously empty bowl of chips and for small plates, she was already gone - We want to ask for more chips and 2 small plates for the guac we just had delivered, but who do we ask? bartender guy? chips guy? lady who brought guac? rude lady that took our order? who the hell is taking care of us?!??!?!? - We flagged chips guy who this whole time hadn't stopped running back and forth we asked for 2 small plates and for chips, he promptly delivered the chips and plates which again were more like thrown at the table while he kept on running - Rude lady who took our order never checks on us again... - Since chips guy kept on running past us we asked for more salsa (they are very small servings), again he didn't slow down when we made the request or when he ran past again to deliver the salsa, oh well, at least we have our salsa - A different lady delivers our entrees, my friend had the Spinach Enchiladas, I had the Mayan tacos which were supposed to be served with pickled red onions, but the red onions are MIA, my friend's food is not very hot - No one checks on us to make sure the food is ok, the constant running back and forth by the staff past us is now beyond irritating - We eat our food, its good not amazing, I am sure mine would have been better if I had the red onions my entree was supposed to be served with... - Lady that had brought out the food clears our plates, I ask her if they don't have dedicated servers at the restaurant since we had observed chaos with the staff and she just said they all help bus tables - We also observed a friendly man taking to several of the patrons, he appears to be the owner, I am blown away that he thinks its acceptable for his staff to be running back and forth looking as stressed as they were...yet we hardly had any service - Rude lady comes to our tables, asks if we are done....I stare at her, she then forces out a smile and asks if we would like dessert, I ask for the check, I can't wait to get out of this place - For the price, this place does not deliver tl;dr: Ok food, horrible horrible service

Tasty, authentic Mexican dishes! Always fresh food and great service. I love the Mole Rojo enchiladas here.

First time. With group of six. Greeted enthusiastically, nice casual atmosphere, good service, plentiful baskets of chips, decent prices, fantastic mole. That being said, I have tasted better: Margaritas (very weak) salsa (bland) Tableside guac (bland) fish tacos ((no type of crunch inside) rice and beans With all the above being said I would return with our Mexican food enthusiastic friends just to have the mole again. Very complex with layers of flavor. Yum

I am visiting my grandparents for the weekend and they suggested this place. I quickly learned they are regulars from the warm welcome. I have to say this place is really really great in service and food. It takes a lot for my grandparents to be satisfied and the staff nailed it! Very very attentive! I had the white sangria which tasted just how I make it at home with really fresh apples. We also ordered the corn salsa which was phenomenal. I haven't seen anything like this at any other restaurants. I highly recommend it. The table side guacamole is great too. I had the Maya burrito with chicken. It was nice and flavorful and the beans were great too! When we were leaving I think ever staff member said goodbye and thanked us for coming in, that was very sweet. Overall one of the best Mexican restaurants I've had in a long time. great job all around!!!

Just ordered to go- I'm very sick and was craving a good soup. Decided to go with lunch special which includes a soup- but you don't have a choice of soup- only their special of the day. Which was some poblano (?)- which was terrible- if you want another soup it $1.50. I then asked for chips and salsa to go with my meal- naturally salsa is meant to enjoy with Mexican dishes...she told me it would be another $1.50 for chips and salsa. So my lunch was terrible- cold soup (after a 3 minute drive) and a bland burrito with huge chunks of bell peppers and onions. Awful excuse for Mexican food!!!!!

We went here for a family thing last night, and my wife and I arrived 20 minutes late. When we arrived, the earlier arrivals had eaten all of the chips and salsa, and had not been offered more; sereral water glasses were empty. When I got the attention of the server, I asked for more chips and salsa, and more than one basket of chips on one end of the table and one on the other end, plus more water. The chips (only two baskets) arrived without water; I had to ask three times total for water, then later during the meal had to request salsa verde three times. Everybody seemed to enjoy their food, which I thought was very over priced (by my SoCal standards), but very tasty. Service - 0 stars Food - 4 1/2 stars Value - 1 star

First timers. Ceviche, uxmal salad with shrimp, and Mayan tacos were all delicious. Ambiance is authentic, and the staff is super generous and attentive. Definitely will be making a regular appearance from here on out.

Ok I attempted to come here once before but it was full and i was too hangry and didn't want to wait. Now that we are moving to Tampa bay area we decided to wait the 25 min. However, in 5 min we found a spot at the bar and just decided to stay and eat there. The bartender and owner were friendly and helpful. The chips and salsa were recently done and delicious. I was torn between the vegetable fajitas, enchiladas and burrito. My SO ordered Verde enchilada and I had a spinach Burrito. He loved verde enchilada, and he said it was close to authentic (he has been to mexico before). I loved my rice and refried beans and the burrito wasn't bad but probably should have gotten the vegetable fajitas (not that fond of soggy spinach). To top it off we ordered the Guava cheesecake I saw raves about- and now I know why. I move in a week but won't be leaving without stopping by for chips and salsa, ice cold beer and guava cheesecake...yum !!

I was so excited to try Casa Maya as I've heard some great things but wound up underwhelmed. It's a really cute restaurant inside but we wound up sitting outside as we didn't want to wait for an inside table. First off, the service was S-L-O-W. The people who work here are extremely warm and friendly but took forever to come to our table, get us additional cocktails, bring our food (I think our dinner took 40 minutes from the time we ordered). The young man bringing out the chips and salsa was the most efficient server. (the salsa was good by the way) My husband had tacos - 2 beef 1 chicken. They tasted good but he said the temperature of the meat was not hot. I had chile relleno which was described as seafood stuffed poblano pepper with cheese. I was expecting the battered and deep fried version. I was expecting a poblano pepper stuffed with these delicious ingredients: shrimp, scallops, crab or lobster mixed with cheese that was battered and deep fried served in a tomato sauce - doesn't that sound delicious? It came out as a baked poblano pepper stuffed with mostly white fish and maybe one or two pieces of shrimp, topped with cheese in a red sauce. So, I was disappointed almost immediately. The flavors were good but it just wasnt what I expected. Anyway, I was full from the two baskets of chips and salsa we ate before hand while waiting 40 minutes for our food to come out. Oh, and the margaritas are not really margaritas, they're only like half liquor or something. I didnt really understand what the waitress was saying. I tried one of them and it was just ok but then I opted for a Mexican beer. The food is decent and fresh and I assume authentic to the region of the owners/chef of this restaurant. The service really needs to improve. Not really sure I would return with other decent Mexican options in the area.

Dinner started off wonderful with great guacamole and fresh chips. When the food came my refried beans were cold and my lobster tacos were like rubber. My husband got beef and ended up in the hospital with food poisoning thus ruining our weekend getaway without our children. So eat at your own risk. Honestly it is a shame because the service was fantastic! Our drink were never empty and the servers were very attentive. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the guacamole was the best I've ever had. But after a day of violent diarrhea and vomiting and a trip to the emergency room and a $100 copay I would say all and all it was not worth eating there.

Was in the area looking for something to eat and this place had great reviews so I decided to give it a shot. The staff and ambiance of the restaurant were good but the main part of the restaurant, being its food, lacked one thing. This one thing is something most of us call taste. This might be a new concept to some people but not for me. The best part of the meal was the fresh cold tap water (no refill) and chips/salsa that were given to us as a complementary appetizer. For the main course, I had the Lunch Special: Lunch Chicken Burrito which was served with a soup. Other than both of the dishes lacking taste, both were cold upon touch/taste. Definitely not impressed with this place and am certainly discouraged to try additional restaurants with similar good reviews like this one. All in all, I certainly won't be back!

Solid food. Best guacamole in south Florida. Now if they would just learn to make corn tortillas that don't taste like they are right out of the bag, they would be elite. Also the chips are really greasy. Overall really good, just a few minor things holding them back from bring elite.

Food - 4 Stars Clean - 2 Stars - Smells Like Toilet Service - 3 Stars - Nice, but food took a long time. Repeater - 3 Stars - If I'm in the area. The food here is very creative, and they put a lot of effort. That is what will bring me back. I'm sure they will fix the smell by then...

I have eaten at Casa Maya Grill 6 times and we are addicted! Not just to the food but also to the friendliness and consciousness of the owner Emilio Dominguez and his amazing staff! Being a native Floridian for over 40 years I have seen many restaurants come and go and this is a GREAT place for Mexican food. They truly put their love into everything they serve. Such a delightful vibe and the Staff are always smiling and attentive. Thank you for a consistently appealing dining experience! :-)

Really not good. The food has NO flavor and the service is slow and inattentive. With all the "fast food" Mexican in the area I decided to give this restaurant a try and I wish I'd gone to Tijuana Flats or Chipotle instead. Salsa was bland and the lunch special burrito was all rice. I sat there forever with a closed menu waiting to place my order while the servers kept walking right by me. Had to flag someone down to order and then had to get up to pay since no one checked on me or brought me a check. Fail!

Remember to look at how clean the seating is and the floor. It is a reflection of how the kitchen is. At casa maya the floor is filthy and stained. This place needs a cleaning from top to bottom. The bathroom has spider webs and dirt that looks 10 years old. I bet the kitchen is dirty with a freezer that has mold everywhere. Make sure you make a appointment with your doctor if you eat here for a complete work up with fungal cultures. Be careful

Very good 'clean' fresh food and accommodating staff. My fave is their delicious spinach enchilada with a wonderful lime sauce, side of beans and rice. Great flavor combination. Onebecause I ordered a margarita and was not informed that that it was a virgin 'rita - they do not have their liquor license. Food however is fresh and flavorful, good salsa, fresh herbs, delish!

My friends have been going to the place; so I gave it a try.. We had Sangria which I would've like it a little more sweet & I don't really like sweet drinks. I had Grilled octopus which was really good with guacamole as a side. I will definitely be back and try some other things that looked good.

It's okay. Had the ceviche. Over done on the tomato and vinegar. Flan for flan for desert. I think it was in the fridge for a few days and trust me I order it it it is ever on the menu. And I know authentic Flan. The mole burrito way over chocolate flavor. Other than that. It's an okay place

Food was excellent here, but service was a little spotty. I had the fish and shrimp tacos, which were really excellent, especially with the homemade guacamole served on the side. The beans and rice served on the side were good as well... Tasted like the retried beans were homemade and fresh. I ate outside where they let me have my dog sit next to me, and one of the servers brought her a little bowl of water. The odd thing was that about five different servers came by during the course of dinner, and after a different one left my check, I waited about ten minutes for someone to pick it up, the folks at the table next to me said it was because Emilio the owner wasn't around to provide direction, and the hostess was also not there, so waiters were doing hostess duties as well. I would come back for the fish tacos, very tasty! One other odd thing... The menu described the fish tacos as fish and/ or shrimp, with soft tacos on the side. But the dish was served as three nicely put together fish and shrimp tacos- a pleasant surprise.

The best and only place I eat Mexican food! They customize my order exactly how I want it and their food is consistently amazing! Never greasy or full of salt like Rocco's Tacos or generic chain food like Uncle Julios! Small family owned business with fresh food prepared daily and the best service! My favorite things are the enchiladas and spinach salad or the fajitas.

Love this place. The service is always great and the quality of the food is fantastic. The queso dip is a must; add the chorizo on the side so it won't be to greasy.

I was welcomed with a great smile and a friendly person behind the bar. I had their chicken Quesadilla and a side of rice and beans. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. But what I enjoyed the most was the Guava Cheesecake. Its a must have if you go here. Totally to die for. The staff were all so pleasant and the owner walked around making sure everyone was ok. Loved this place and will be back for some more Guava Cheesecake.

Found this place through Yelp, looking for a Mexican restaurant in the area for lunch. Place is clean, colorful and well lit, and relatively comfortable seating and atmosphere. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent. Ceviche was absolutely fresh and perfectly prepared - and a large portion! Salsa and guacamole were both well made and certainly super fresh, and we ate every bit. Pork tacos (with a crisp and tasty side salad) were lighter than expected, but full of flavor. Super tender as well. Chicken soup was huge and incredible - wow! We way over-ordered, and couldn't finish it all by the end, but it was truly top notch cuisine.

I seriously tried to like this place since they have such great reviews and the employees all seem very nice but I was seriously disappointed. I was so thrown off by my disappointment the first visit so I went ahead and gave them another chance .. and once again, yikes! No good! Soooo... here is my review of all the items that I've eaten here: - It is VERY hard to screw up chips and salsa but they managed to do it. The salsa tastes very bitter and watery. It tastes like it's been sitting out for a while as the tomatoes are rather fermented and broken down. Salsa gone bad! It lacks salt, cilantro, and any general flavor. This was not a fluke! I went to this restaurant again a few weeks later and the same thing! Bitter, watery goop! Both times I've had to add salt, pepper, and a bit of hot sauce to get any flavor into that soupy mess. It's not that hard to make salsa. Seriously... try this at home: chop some tomatoes, onions, cilantro, squeeze a lime or two, add a dash of salt/pepper/garlic, maybe some cumin and/or jalapeno if you want a bit of spice and your concoction will taste 10x better than their salsa. No joke. At least the chips tasted like chips, I guess - I had the Steak Burrito for lunch one day. The portion size was rather small, the burrito was more like a wrap, and the "steak" was very bland and flavorless. I forked out a few pieces to inspect it further and the meat was very gummy. There was no char or seasoning to make the meat stand out. The vegetables inside the "burrito" tasted rather bland as well. - My second time around I ordered the fish tacos. Again, very bland and flavorless. The fish tasted like it was boiled in water, nothing more. It was soft and mushy with no spark or bite. After eating the steak burrito and fish tacos, I've been seriously thrown off by the word "grill" in their restaurant name because I haven't seen a single grill mark on any of their dishes. I'm not asking for anything extravagant but the protein in a Mexican dish, whether it be steak, chicken, or fish, needs to jump out at you with every bite. The tomatoes in the tacos tasted like they were straight out of a can. This leads me to believe that the tomatoes they are using for the salsa, burritos, and tacos are either coming straight out of a can or they are sitting in a pool of their own fermented juices all day long. Use fresh ingredients!! Chop the tomatoes fresh for every order! - The side of guacamole was actually pretty tasty. No complaints here. It is creamy and fresh which leads me to believe that their main problem is the lack of fresh ingredients when it comes to their other dishes. They seem to be willing to sacrifice freshness and quality so they can get the orders quickly out of the kitchen to avoid long waiting time for the customers. I am very confused as to why they have such great reviews. They often have large crowds but my guess is that their customer base is non-Hispanic that did not grow up eating Mexican food so they don't know any better. The food looks like Mexican food but tastes very much like... nothing. I still can't get over how bad their salsa is. It's mind-boggling. Side notes.. The wait staff is very nice but they are mostly Spanish-speaking so they may come off as a bit stand-offish to the average English-speaking Caucasian, thus you have the "bad service" comments in a lot of the reviews for Casa Maya.

Used to be good but they have toned down / changed the recipe on the carne tulum becuse the waiter told us it was to spicy for the elderly and snowbirds this one reason why mexican restaurants don't last in FL My daughter had the chicken tacos they were crappy better tacos at Chipotle I dont think the chips are homemade and the salsa is not as good as it used to be the reason I say that the chips are not homemade is because I was able to see into the kitchen and noticed a bag of store bought tortillas which leads me to believe if they aren't making fresh tortillas the aren't making homemade chips They make them fresh at Uncle Julio's tortilla machine is on display I was getting a lot of emails asking customers to vote them number one for news channel local 10 Time to go back to the ways thay made this place good and you might get a #1 vote

My relatives took us here for good, traditional Mexican food and explained its the real deal--its a family-run place from the Yucatan. Everything seemed very authentic except the bad pop music in the restaurant. Beautiful lanterns adorn the place. The menu has a lot of great options. Perfect chips and salsa. I had sizzlng shrimp and scallop fajitas. The dessert was the best! A huge slice of dense cheesecake drizzled with guava sauce on top with a uniquely delicious wheat graham cracker crust. Our table of 4 polished off 3 of these somehow!

Excellent food & service. We had the Tulum burrito & Casa Maya burrito--both were very good but the jalapeno sauce on the Tulum is only for those who want a hot but flavorful sauce.

I truly love this place I was introduced to it by my fiancé and his mom. First time I came here I had the chicken fajitas... Oh.my .gosh. Soooo yummy!! I used to think la Bamba was good but this place blows them out of the water on everything! From the authentic decor to the super nice wait staff to outside seating everything I've tried here is flavorful and fresh. Did I mention my mom owns a restaurant herself so I know good food when I try some!! Everyone has to go here the little store inside a hidden plaza has a big menu and a great experience! Good job!

We were told we could only be served chips and drinks outside and must wait 30 minutes for an inside table. As the tables around us were served dinner, we finally asked to order. Sure enough we were 'allowed' to eat outside. Service was slow. Very very slow. Food was just okay.

Love this place - it is authentic & delicious. Nachos (I always add chicken) are not your typical nachos - you will be so glad you ordered them!!! The Casa Maya salad with marinated shrimp and the stuffed Poblano Pepper are musts! Ironically I have had better margaritas but the sangria is fabulous! Staff is attentive and service is great. Owner is always so kind and so appreciates his customers!!!

I was sad to leave Deerfield Beach, and my favorite restaurant Casa Maya Grille when I moved to Arizona, thinking I would be able to get really good Mexican food. I have been to several Tucson eateries, but none compare to the INCREDIBLE FOOD of Casa Maya Grille. I am seriously planning a trip back to Deerfield Beach just so I can eat Octopus Ceviche, Tuna Tacos and Guava Cheesecake, and anything with Mole' Sauce there. CMG has spoiled me with authentic Mexican fare, and I cant wait to return for more. Laura's smile and a hug from Emilio after hearing "Hello. How are you, Welcome..." always make it worth the trip. I truly miss this restaurant, the food, and the wonderful staff that always made me feel like family... It's the best...

Great lunch option in The Cove! We walked in and were immediately greeted by a gal at the front, and as we walked by, a gal behind the bar welcomed us. What a nice feeling to be greeted so sincerely upon simply walking into an establishment. The menu is sizeable with a few lunch specials. There are no substitutions or changes to the lunch specials, but the rest of the menu is so large that you're bound to find something great. The vegetarian burrito was yummy, filled with beans and veggies (a lot of peppers -- but nothing spicy), and topped with cheese. Rice and beans were automatically side items. The chips and salsa were really good too, specifically the salsa. It tasted and looked homemade. I could have drunk that stuff! If you're in the area, swing on in. Nice little place, friendly service, great menu.

We come to the area often in the winter months. Love the food and atmosphere but not happy with their coupon policy. MOst people traveling don't have a printer and they will not take the coupon on your phone/it needs to be printed. I told the lady they could keep track by just writing down that a coupon was used per customers phone but they were not all open to this..... too bad...

First the service is fantastic!! Chips and salsa are homemade and delicious!! Had the 3 tacos, 1 chicken and 2 steak, rice and refried beans, they tasted like I was back in Mexico.. The steak was well seasoned and very tender!! Guacamole was very good!! Will be coming back for sure...

While there was nothing that especially jumped out at me about Casa Maya, I also have no complaints. The chips and salsa were delicious, the lunch burrito, while small for the price, was excellently flavored and paired with a salad, made for the perfect lunch sized meal. The decor felt authentic yet comfortable and while I didnt partake in a beverage (I was on a lunch break whomp whomp) I'm willing to bet they make a damn good margarita. If I'm in the mood for mexican and have some time to spare in Deerfield, I will certainly be back to Casa Maya.

Excellent food and service. This would be at least a weekly visit if we lived in the area. If visiting Deerfield beach and you like Mexican, do not miss this place. The chiclets were a cool end of the meal gum.

I have been coming to Casa Maya now for over 3 years and I have really enjoyed the food, service, and décor. But unfortunately, things have been turning south at this place. We had a bad experience with poor service about 4 weeks ago, and all of us (Party of 6) said we would never come back. Well tonight we thought we would give it another try. We were greeted at the door, very warm and friendly host. Got seated towards the rear of the restaurant due to them being very busy. And it is almost like we were forgotten about a few times. 1. Ran out of Salsa (which by the way has not been very good lately) 2. Three of us has Fajitas and none of us were given plates to put our fajitas on. Had to ask 2 times, and this happened to use last time as well. Who knew that eating Fajitas does not require having a plate? 3. The entire restaurant got smoky and many started to cough. I had no idea what was going on until it hit our table. I had to evacuate to the outside to get some fresh air. It was that bad! Was told is was cause by a Pork Fajita?!?! Sorry, but that is not the right answer. I kid you not when I tell you that the entire restaurant (including staff) was coughing up lungs and all I was told was ( it will go away soon).. My plate was great, but the rest of our party was disappointed. Then when I showed the staff that I had a coupon on my phone that was emailed to me, they told me that it had to be printed out.. So I got to kill a tree? No thanks, but we are done with this place. 2 strikes and you are out.

Though the quality of the appetizer was great, the entrees of my and my wife's were way overpriced. The tortillas in the verde dish were soggy and the chicken bland. The service was mediocre...the two waitresses never once smiled. Worst of the the restrooms were filthy,

Not sure what happened to this place but the quality has slipped. We have been coming to this restaurant for at least a couple of years. I had Seafood Fajitas, which I've had before. They were mediocre. Along with some fish, I had three small shrimp buried in the onions. One of my guests had the grouper filet which was the daily special, and she said it was definitely not fresh fish, to put it kindly. It's a shame. This is a neighborhood restaurant we always enjoyed in the past.

Best Mexican food ever! I am a snowbird' spending six months in South Florida every year. I have eaten in many Mexican Restaurants but the food I have eaten at Casa Maya is the best I have ever eaten. The sauces are delectable..my favorite is the Boxito Burrito with red pepper sauce. I eat here several times a month and always take friends there when they visit. Not only is the food good, the staff is excellent too! The owners are very involved and we usually see them every time we visit. They make you feel very welcome! I love this place...great food..great prices and great staff!

It's hard to find good Mexican food in Florida, but this place delivers. Great for big groups and drinking with friends or family, but can also serve as a romantic dinner for date night. Food is creative, with quality ingredients prepared professionally. Definitely worth a visit when you're near the Cove.

Delicious! Casa Maya packs a wallop with its combination of great décor, perfect music and oh-so yummy Mexican cuisine! What we ate (descriptions courtesy Casa Maya's website menu): Burrito; Pibil - Marinated pork, slowly roasted with melted cheese and pickle red onions Fajitas; Sizzling Vegetarian - Seasonal mix of vegetables topped with melted cheese served on a sizzling plate (resembles a brick) Sangria (1) Dos Equis (1) What we thought: Perfect, everything was well thought out and fresh! Presentation was nice, not tacky blobs of refried beans and rice. What it cost: $32.87

I heard Michy proclaimed this as the mexican in sofl. While i am partial to an old favorite (or cant really choose 1 best mexi joint) i do love this spot! I had the seafood stuffed chilis rellenos with a classic margarita an it was fresh and delicious. The portion was generous! This place had a friendly staff, a great atmosphere and is locate in deerfield close to the cove (great for post happy hour noshing). I found the style of mexican is less heavy/fried/cheesy and more fresh/traditional.

Ceviche is the only thing to get. We've tried a number of their dishes: fajitas, fish tacos, beef burritos, breakfast items (while they served them) and others. Every time though we think two things. This is not what I was expecting and this is not good. I think the owner views himself as an "artist" because he makes dishes that have to be explained. Strange flavors and ingredients that us mere mortals just don't get. That's why when you even have the salsa you're thrown off. The salsa tastes like sour butter and vinegar. Every dish is some fusion creation. This is definitely not traditional Spanish cuisine. I ordered a tortilla soup once and it was just plain pureed tomato soup. Thats a pretty traditional dish that is hard to mess up. But they said it was fresh pureed tomatos and defended the dish. The thing is it didn't have anything else in. So to me, that's called tomato soup. The huevo rancheros didn't even come with tortillas. They served it with sour dough bread and said they wouldn't serve this with tortillas. Weird. Also, they do not have a liquor license, and so their margaritas do not contain tequila. It's a pre made mix. The ceviche however, is brilliant and worth going here for it alone. When they have beer in stock its a great accompaniment, along with some guacamole. The decor is very nice and we love the location. So, we keep coming back. We just stopped trying new dishes.

Terrible! Started out with tortilla soup that tasted like really bad pizza sauce and a taco with shredded beef. The taco wasn't too bad, not great, definitely wouldn't order it again. I had enchiladas that were so gross I sent them back, I never do that! My boyfriend had the steak fajitas, the meat was rubbery and it was basically a plate of onions! In the end the manager was terrible and basically said I don't know what Mexican is, I informed him I know what it is and his food has no taste. Anyway, don't waste your time!!!!!!! It's terrible!!!!!

Nice place, but we left thinking "this could have been better". W had four of us and upon getting there we sat at the bar to have a cocktail and wait for our table, after a couple minutes the hostess came up and asked to to move, as they had a couple who didnt want to wait for a table, and they wanted to sit at the bar. We were set aside by that? Then at the table we asked for some jalapenos to be added to the inside of our burritos, and upon serving us the jalapenos were from a jar rather then being "fresh" and sliced. Other than this the food was "good". Dinner was not expensive.

  • Susan C.

The food is definitely good - I'm not going to do cartwheels and rave but it's good enough and the presentation is a cut above. It is definitely a "hot spot" - lines of well-dressed people, everyone toting a drink - a few Floridian retirees or tourists mixed in. I guess I just didn't like the vibe as much as I hoped - we sat outside and it was good but not great. I need to go back - the jury is still out because clearly this is a beloved place and I feel like we missed something!

Hola Casa Maya. Let me count the ways I love you. 1. Chicken Soup that is more like a meal in a bowl. 2) Corn Salsa that is so good that if you put it on your head you would get a concussion...because your tongue would knock you silly trying to get to it. 3) Super fresh ceviche. And 4) Some of the nicest wait staff in town. We love coming here. Everyone is so nice and the food is so good. The Casa Maya burrito steak is served in a sauce of slow-stewed tomatoes, onions and peppers with melted cheese. I love it. It is fantastic. The Al Carbon steak soft tacos are my back-up and definitely won't disappoint. You have to be careful of one thing...don't eat too many chips and salsa (especially the corn salsa). Crazy addictive. So when you feel like you want to cross the boarder but don't want to drive to far...visit Casa Maya.

My burrito was very bland. The salsa was not appealing. I wanted to like the small local place, but it just was nothing special. Can't wait to go to On the Border again to get a better meal for less money. I won't be back here, sorry. Price: C Food: D Service: A Atmosphere: C (fairly run down strip mall)

Nice spot tucked into a mall. We had chips with fresh salsa and a drink at the bar before moving to our table. Try the Queso Fundido with Chorizo and warm flour tortillas for an appetizer. My husband and had the Carne Tampiquena which he said was excellent. I had the Seafood Fajitas and loved them; the serving was so big I took more than half of it home. Our son had the Boxito Burrito and was happy with it. Service was great. The staff there are extremely friendly. The menu has ample choices of very good, mostly authentic Mexican dishes. We will gladly go again.

3.5 stars If anyone you love or care for is sick or feeling "under the weather" you had better get here and order the Casa Maya chicken soup! It is the ultimate symbol of A LOT of LOVE!!! One order of soup is more then enough for two people and you can expect to be almost full after it. The free chips and traditional salsa as well as the sweet corn salsa is a nice touch. The Casa Maya burrito was loaded with chicken but dry and lacking in flavor; however pretty good if you pour on salsa and the homemade "light your ass on fire" hot sauce! I'm not sure if shredded cheese and guacamole is an American thing but my fajitas sure was missing them tonight. I've never seen fajitas without all the fixins on the side. The chicken and steak had great flavor, plenty of veggies, and rice/refried beans on the side. For desert we ordered the homemade flan even tho I was stuffed like a gdam turkey! It was pretty good and refreshing to my palate! The service was awesome! We had 3 people waiting on the 2 of us!! I will definitely come back here, for the soup if nothing else. I've already had it two days in a row and may start clucking soon! :)

It's not exactly as hard as splitting an atom, but this Mexican place out in Deerfield has this chicken noodle soup thing down pat. It's the number 1, 2, and 3 reason why I would come back to Casa Maya. For $7 you get a big 'ol portion of hot soup with all high quality ingredients including white meat chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob, and jumbo carrots, seal the deal with the homemade habenero sauce and it's a hell of an appetizer, actually enough for a meal. After inhaling that soup and the free warm chip basket with salsa and corn dip, more food wasn't really needed but was ordered already. The Casa Maya burrito, topped with a thin layer of only one type of cheese, was jam packed with white meat chicken, it's a really generous amount but pretty much the only ingredient in the burrito. It was kind of like a Mexican version of a Katz's deli overstuffed sandwich. There was only a little bit of sauce inside, but the side dishes of rice and beans and extra salsa and hot sauce made up for lack of ingredients. The chicken and steak in the fajitas were tender, tasty & juicy, but there was no cheese or guacamole served on the side, only habenero sauce, ranch, rice and beans. Flan is good but not memorable Service was on point for sure. We were treated like family of Julio Ceasar Chavez, constantly having someone bring us sauce or filling drinks. The interior is modern, clean and colorful. I'm not the biggest Mexican food fan, pretty much because of re fried beans and lack of Yuca, yellow rice, and Tres Leches, but I'll be back for sure because of that soup and I'd get that Burrito again also.

The Enchilada I had was delicious as well as the rice and beans that came with it. The Cup of tortilla soup I had was definitely more of a bowl and could have had more substance, but otherwise good.

Excellent high quality authentic Mexican food. Don't expect Tex Mex with a Burrito smothered in melted cheese. Expect high quality fresh ingredients with home made salsas and delicious marinade. Also they have a good lunch special: Chips, Salsa, Salad and Burrito for $8.00

Good Yucatan style Mexican food. This is one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants i have been to in the states. They don't have pickled habanero (escabeche) but still good.

Meh. It's ok. I ordered the Mole Rojo burrito. I received something else by mistake and then finally got what I ordered. The Mole sauce was a bit sweet for my taste. One of the sweeter Mole sauces I have had. They had a line and we had to wait 15 minutes. It really wasn't worth the wait and was not very authentic. I think I'll try another place next time.

I have only one complaint about this place. That is they only have a beer and wine license. Margaritas aren't totally out of the question as they will serve you one that is made from agave something or other however, being truthful it wasn't to my liking at all. On the positive side of things our waitress was exceptional. She knew that we weren't fond of the margaritas and she got us beers and removed the margaritas from the bill no questions asked. Furthermore, the food was fresh and of excellent quality. I would definitely come back.

The best Mexican food and the nicest restaurant. Staff and owner very attentive and oh the food. The special was a lobster taco. Excellent as usual. Always have a great meal here. The sangria was terrific. A place not to be missed

Best Mexican food I've had in Florida, with the exception of my grandma's recipes I make at home. I saw that someone complained that their food was bland. I can't imagine why they said that other than maybe they're used to Taco Bell style food that is drenched in fat and sodium. This is true, authentic Mexican food. Don't expect the kind of junk you find at the chain "Mexican" (I use that term loosely) restaurants.

Excellent service, amazing food, beautiful atmosphere. This restaurant knows what they are doing when they serve authentic Mexican food. The Tulum chicken burrito is a must. The salsa and guacamole are always fresh and delicious. You must try it to believe it. My bf and I eat here at least once a week every week. I guess you can say we are a couple of Beaners!

  • C A.

Free salsa and chips to start, the chips are warm which is nice, the salsa tasted bad...how can you not get salsa right? My boyfriend got fish tacos, the fish was okay but the toritillas were soggy and the rice and beans were just awful. My entree was the worst!! I got the casa maya burrito and and it was plain chicken that tasted like a warm wash cloth...no taste, no sauce, just watery chicken inside a tortilla with cheese on top. this is the first time i sent back food in my life. this place is just awful. I cannot believe people would give this place more than a star.

came here after working all day and wanting a quick but delicious bite to eat. while it is in a strip mall and doesn't look particularly impressive from the outside, the inside is friendly and well-staffed, equipped with a tiny but welcoming bar. we were seated within 5 minutes, promptly served chips and salsa (small portion but delicious!) and ordered within another five. the red sangria is DELIGHTFUL and highly recommended. the frozen margaritas aren't super... frozen. but good nonetheless. our food was prompt - tacos al carbon and fish tacos - both were respectable and reasonably priced. there were a few order hiccups and some slight confusion with many faces among the staff at our table (three different servers, not sure why) but otherwise, a decent meal. a quick bite with good tasting food. recommended! ps: get the sangria!!!

I really like the atmosphere here as well as their food. Latinos have a way with hospitality. Their chips are always fresh, never stale. I love the little things about the food such as the salsa and the sweet corn that comes with it. And there's this green avocado-lime sauce (I'm not talking about the guacamole) but that sauce I could just eat all day long. My favorite dish there is the carne tempiquena, it was salty the first time but every time I go there now, it's perfection. I'm usually not a fan of yellow rice because of the oil, but their rice, I will make an exception even if my cholesterol skyrockets! I tried their xocoltl cake, it's cute how they serve it in a tea cup. Very filling and the pricing isn't bad at all. Best Mexican Restaurant BY FAR!

Yum! First time here. I was trying to have an open mind because I have never liked any Mexican food before. It was awesome. Service. Food. Atmosphere. I had the carne tulum. So good. Sorry if I misspell anything. There was a line but well worth the wait. Meat was tender and juicy. Flavor was excellent. Will be back next time we're in town.

Service great, sometimes an overkill but they are really on top of things. My dining partner LOVED the guava cheesecake. I thought it was much too tart but thats individual taste. I would go back....... might have to try the guacamole and the chile relleno

After seeing this restaurant reviewed on television I had to try it for myself. WHAT A FIND... Upon entering, I was greeted by "Emelio", the owner. I sat at the bar which in my opinion is "the heart" of any eatery. The staff was friendly, polite and eager to offer suggestions to order. The menu is extensive and includes the usual Mexican fare, but they also offer many specialty dishes of the Yucatan region. The Ceviche was fresh, light and full of flavor. Truly on of the best I have ever eaten. The Casa Maya Soup is excellent, as is the Tortilla Soup if you like a kick of chipotle. The Fajitas are a popular dish, as many sizzling platters came out of the kitchen, so I tried the Steak Fajitas. AWESOME... My meal was finished off with a slice of Guava Cheesecake that was rich, but not to sweet. I have gone back several times and this is now one of my favorite eateries. Thank you, Emelio... You run a 1st class restaurant. Concierge Thomas, Boca Raton, FL.

One more star for this place. Had their Casa Maya Salad and it's delicious!!!! Their "Special Vinaigrette" is amazing, haven't had a dressing I liked so much in a while. Have it as a starter or side or make it a meal adding one of the following: chicken, steak, grilled shrimp or fish. Also, a friend tried their Guava Cheesecake and Loved it.

Dined here on a Tuesday eve. The food was good but there were problems with the service. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that the large group in the back room put them off. In any case, the homemade salsa was fresh and delicious. We also had the Uxmal salad which was very good and the Casa Maya Chicken Burrito. The burrito was okay and was loaded with chicken but lacked flavor. We also ordered the Guacamole but it never made it to the table (but managed to show up on the bill). I think this may be a good place that we just hit on a night when the boss was off. The staff seemed a bit discombobulated.

We loved it. We went on a weekend night. It was packed and the wait was going to be 20 to 30 minutes but they seated us at an outdoor table in just a few. The staff was super friendly. They asked if we wanted a drink while we waited and brought us a glass of wine. The food was excellent spanish/mexican. I had the steak tampiquena it was perfectly cooked medium. Skirt steak is not easy to get cooked but keep tender and they did it right. The sauce was flavorful but in no way overpowering, the same with the toppings an added touch not a distraction. I was concerned about getting a steak with cheese on it but it was just little. My wife had the spinach enchiladas very tasty, fresh spinach again the saucing was complimentary not drowning. She is not a fan of mexican food (to my chagrin) but she really liked this place. It was very pleasant sitting outside with the ocean breeze. The crowd was families and clearly local and repeat. My wine was not great but they had Negro Modelo on draft very fresh and tasty.

The Uxmal Salad was fantastic -- a wonderful assortment of flavors and textures. Will definitely order that again. We came back for lunch a few days later, sat outside on the high stools/tables, and did not care for the Lunch Burritos. Flavor was good but too mushy. Ambiance: The wooden chairs are fairly hard -- they're fine for a meal, but I wouldn't want to linger. During the day the interior of the restaurant feels dark and unwelcoming. At night it's better. We'll go back and check out their other offerings. I bet we'll find some good stuff.

  • Craig D.

Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in South Florida. I love this place. Everything here is fresh. (ie. fresh romaine lettuce in their salad--no bagged stuff, never frozen chicken, everything made to order.) Not a place to go if you like gobs of cheese and canned salsa. I have had just about everything on the menu and its as good as it gets. Some standouts: Mole Rojo and Pipian Verde (green mole) burritos contain all white meat chicken and are amazing), Pescado veracruz, steak (can't remember the name but is amazing), chile relleno, fajitas, and ceviche. They'll substitute an amazing side salad for rice and beans if you're a healthy eater. Great owner and great staff. Also great music when they have it (in the back section.) There is no place like this in South Florida.

Fabulous! I had no idea this place was in the Cove shopping center, let alone, for 4 years...discovered it from a $5 off coupon in Sun Sentinel. Staff was one of the most welcoming and attentive I've ever seen...even the teens that worked there. All 3 of us ordered the Carne Tulum (from Favorites section of menu). It was a skirt steak marinated in "tulum" and adobo...most delicious and unique taste. I love carne asada, but this blew it away. Light, fluffy rice and the creamiest refried beans. $6 for a glass of wine. More than fair. In one way, I hate to share about his great find for fear it will be come too popular, but on the other...want to share to ensure their continued success. WHO KNEW a place like this existed in the Cove shopping center?! Oh...PS...we were told there are no microwaves in the bldg., not a single frozen product. I believe it. Also....my son even loooooved the leftovers.

Authentic Mexican food in south Florida. When I walked into the restaurant it was a tad dark for my taste but after relaxing with a couple of Negro Modelos I warmed to the lighting. The parking can be a bear but they have restaurant specific parking west of the restaurant. For appetizers we had the ceviche (**** stars) which was delicious, but HOT!!! Serving is large and is perfect for two or a light and refreshing entree. For my entree I had the mole (**** 1/2 stars) right up my alley with delicious textures and depth of flavor. It was a bit crowded but with thendim atmosphere you hardly noticemthenthe people. Service is friendly and fast. The owner is on site and makes his rounds. For dessert I had the guava cheese cake (**** stars). I am not really a cheese cake fan but it was recommended by the waitress and I was happy that I tried it. The guava is on top and mixed inside which was different but good. Didn't think I would be coming to Florida for Mexican food but glad we stopped in!!!

I swear, I can't get enough of this place! I am by and large not a Mexican cuisine fan, but this place has successfully changed my mind! The atmosphere is always warm and friendly, and I love their decor....mostly Mexican with a little Moroccanesque thrown in :-). The servers, hosts and manager are always really friendly and make you feel at home. Their cheese enchiladas with mole sauce are truly authentic and I also love their spinach enchiladas. I am a vegetarian and I like that this place offers me many options. I'm also not a big drinker, but I do love their sangria! The white sangria is my favorite but the red is good as well.

I love this place. Great food. Great service! Great prices! As soon as you sit down you get a fresh order of warm chips with their homemade salsa. The salsa is not spicy, which is a plus for me. Anything you order taste authentic, fresh and delicious. Anytime I am in the area (mind you I live in South Miami) I make sure to make some time to stop by and eat here or take it back home.

Good food, nice ambience, and friendly staff. The Sangria is always tasty, and the food is good. I had to deduct a mark because they have stopped serving the corn salsa previously referenced here, and previously a delicious staple of every visit.

Casa Maya has great atmosphere, great food! Solid and straightforward, authentic family-friendly Mexican, Yucatan-style. Emilio (owner) greets EVERYONE like they are family... like they are guests in his house. We're there so much, Laura knows both my kid's 'usual' without them having to utter a word. (If it were up to them, we'd be there every other night, btw!). Fresh guac, steak fajitas, carne asada, all top notch! Ask for the spicy salsa and try the Chile Seafood Relleno--THE best!! I challenge you to try to make this at home for less $... you can't! Definitely hitting their stride and getting crowded, so go early or during the week! One of the few places the whole family can agree on... ;)

I have read a lot of good things about Casa Maya Grill, and for the most part, I would say this restaurant met my expectations on my first visit, although my experience was not without it's flaws. The interior of the restaurant has a town-ish feel to it, it is cozy and decorated with Mexican knickknacks, just don't expect anything fancy. The little outdoor dining area was surprisingly nice looking as well, and they are doing nice things with The Cove shopping center. The complimentary chips and salsa were OK. Definitely ask for the spicy salsa if you are into that sort of thing, which is much better than the regular. The Uxmal Salad was a very good Spinach based salad, bordering on excellent, with a delicious queso-fresco type cheese, beets, grilled onions, pumpkin seeds, avocado and mango, although those latter two ingredients were not quite ripe enough. The chipotle-honey mustard dressing was excellent and definitely brought the elements of the salad together nicely. For an entree, the poc chuc (pork loin) fajitas did not come sizzling as advertised, but were otherwise excellent. The pork was extremely tender and juicy, as tenderloin should be, and it had a fantastic citrus flavor to it. It was topped with both grilled and pickled red onions for a nice contrast. I didn't try the Spanish rice that it came with, but the black beans were pretty good and the corn tortillas were standard-issue. It was also accompanied with some kind of delicious orange-colored sauce that I couldn't make out the flavor of. The service was A-OK. All and all, it was an above-average experience, especially in a land of La Bamba and El Mariachi, and I would definitely come back to try some of the other dishes offered here.

Nothing microwaved here. Food was fresh and nicely presented. Best service I've had in ages. Fascinating and tasty twist on many Mexican favorites like seafood stuffed chili rellenos. Margaritas , chips, and salsa all very good. Flan had an orange tinge to it rather than traditional carmel which I prefer but a really nice texture. Prices very reasonable.

We eat here often and it is always good. As a restaurant owner and chef I love seeing the owner working just as hard as his staff. Food and service is always great.

My favorite thing about trying new places when I travel is seeing an owner who truly cares about his business and his clients! While getting a take out order from Casa Maya, I watched the owner greet his customers, personally check on them to make sure they were comfortable and had all they needed. The staff members I dealt with treated me as though my business mattered and I couldn't wait to taste lunch as I watched these great looking meals come out from the kitchen and be served to others who were thoroughly enjoying themselves there. I was not disappointed! The food had great fresh taste with bold flavors and the portions were perfect - a great value for the price! Desert was awsome too, highly recommend saving room and trying the mango cheesecake. Yummy and would go back again and again if I lived in the area.

Good neighborhood mexican food in an area that has typically mediocre Mexican restaurants. Enchiladas were very good in addition to their sauces. Service at lunch even though 3 tables were occupied was "lousy" with the server never coming by after our meal was served so bring extra water to the restaurant. Regardless food is good and it is not a chain so go and support your local restaurant.

I came here while visiting my boyfriend's family. Very cute and cozy, and the food was great! I had fish tacos that were definitely different than the "baja style" you find most places, which is typically fried fish with sauce and cabbage. These fish tacos have fresh fish sauteed with tomatoes and garlic. Very different, but very delicious. Good salsa, good chips, good guac. Apparently the owner, Emilio (who greeted the fam by name, always the sign of a good host!) goes to Mexico once a month to get special spices for everything he makes, and all the recipes are from his grandmother. Doesn't get better than that!

I tried this place out after reading some reviews. I was having a serious mole craving, and these guys were the closest for takeout. The ambiance is very nice, warm and inviting. The decor has a theme without being overwhelming. Service was brisk yet pleasant. The food was frankly unattractive looking, but tasted amazing. The rice, which included a scattering of corn, carrots, etc., was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. The refried beans looked terrible (tan and pureed) and tasted great. The mole burrito I tried could have used a bit more sauce - I found myself mopping it out of the corners of the container. The chicken was well cooked, but a hint dry - again, could have been solved with more sauce. The mole was great - nice and spicy with delicious flavor. I was skeptical at first - there were several grease patches on it, but I soon ignored them. In short - I wish they made the food look as pretty as the restaurant, but when something tastes this good, I'm not complaining.

I was very disappointed. The food was the same as any other mediocre Mexican place in South Florida. Also my credit card I used was lifted from there.

Delicioso! There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in South Florida but Casa Maya has definitely stood out among them. Absolutely fresh, never greasy and authentic. It's tucked away in the Cove Shopping Center and has brought a nice little piece of Mexico to it's cozy little space.

My favorite Mexican Restaurant. The salsa is fresh & the chips are usually still warm. The owner is active & the server I usually have (Laura) moves quickly. Straightforward--for example, I've not been able to get my usual side of guac because the avocados were not good, and I was told this instead of being served something sub-standard. Expect a wait on Friday & Saturday nights.

We ate here between lunch and dinner at about 2:30 on a Saturday. The place was about half full and it seemed like the owner knew everybody. One table brought him a present from Spain, another guest was talking to him about his mother's funeral. It was nice to see and definitely different from other high traffic, chain type restaurants. I was excited about the food since it was voted best Mexican restaurant in South Florida. The food was good but a little bland. The fish tacos were good, prepared like my mother makes fish, the shredded beef burrito was just ok. The service was very good. Personally, I would choose La Bamba over Casa Maya.

I am certainly a fan of this local restaurant - and with good reason. The prices are GREAT for the quality of the food presented. The menu is a bit deceiving - at first, you might dismiss the offerings as standard mexican fare, until a closer look shows a definite Caribbean influenced spin. Tomato and cilantro blended with citrus make for a delicious and unique flavor to the fish tacos - YUM!!

My boyfriend and I went here on Tuesday night- we sat outside. The service was great the food not so great! This is NOT authentic Mexican- it is more like Gringo Mexican. The chips were not home made- from a bag and warmed up. I had cheese enchiladas and a steak enchilada with pumpkin sauce- with rice and beans- my boy friend had two burritos one veggie and the other chicken- both dishes were not terrible but were not worth the money and would rather have real authentic Mexican not something that's trying to be!! One a good note the serano salsa was great! I will not go back..

Great service. Walked in and immediately nicely greeted with a smile and asked for high chair options ( we have 2 little ones), great service after that as well. Very good food and it was very cheap. What else can you ask for? Definitely worth it.

Have been a customer of Emilo's (owner) for a long time. Glad to see he opened his own place. It's very cozy and nicely decorated. The food was ok when they first opened, I decided to give it another try. So glad I did it was GREAT. I can't wait to celebrate Cinco De Mayo @ Casa Maya!!!

I love this Restaurants take on the mexican food, everything is personalized. As I told my guests throw out what you knew about mexican food, and allow the flavors, and the sights to titillate you. As the people get to know this new place i see the ambiance of a easy stroll into this establishment, may turn into r.s.v.p.! dont wait come see for yourself.

Best authentic Mexican food in South Florida. Be careful not to fill up on chips as the salsa is fresh and fantastic. We started with nachos which were perfectly baked with beans and jalapenos. Cheese enchiladas Verde and seafood fajitas were fresh, delicious and more than we could eat at one sitting. The atmosphere is crisp, clean with an attention to detail and decor you almost never find. And the service is friendly, polite and very attentive. We really can't say enough. Simply superb.

Unfortunately this place isn't a secret anymore so I have to pour on! The food is amazing. The prices are good. The owner is super friendly and always makes us feel more than welcome, almost like we're in his home. The service is efficient and sometimes friendly too! :) The lighting and decor is low-key and fantastic - not trying to be anything it isn't. It's small so there can be a wait on the weekends, especially as it has gained popularity over the last year or so, but I heard they just opened a sister location in the same plaza so that should help. My only complaint is that I smell like a fajita when I get home!

Ok. Not like I'm used to in Southern California but hadnt had Mexican food for a couple weeks and missed it. Not the spiicy Sonoran type I'm used to in Los Angeles and they make Margaritas without Tequila. Probably the best you'll find in this part of Florida though.

Nice place and nice people. Good salsa and chips. but main courses were only fair. Americanized Mexican fare.Someone from Mexico City would scoff at this place. Much better is Las Fajitas in Boca.

better than the la bamba a chain that is busy but the food is bad, casa maya food is okay, the staff is great, but i compare it to La fiesta cafe in- delray beach. which i rate better on some food dishes.they also have a liquor licence and make the best margareter anywhere. as good as casa maya is, la fiesta cafe i like better.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
